International Residency

Since 2014, the Gwangju Museum of Art has operated an international residency program for exchange artists through cooperation with overseas museums and associated organizations. In September 2017, the museum opened a specialized studio for its international residency program at Jungoe Park, where the main gallery is located. Residency artists include two Gwangju artists (long-term participants for a year) and exchange foreign artists (short-term participants for up to three months) nominated by the museum’s partner organizations.

Open Call

  • · Selection : Two Gwangju artists (long-term) and two foreign artists (short-term)
  • · Program Duration : One year for long-term participants / Up to three months for short-term participants
  • · Participant Requirements : Fluent in English

Submission Materials

  • · CV or Resume (including exhibitions/projects/residency/awards/education, up to one page)
  • · Portfolio (in English)
  • - Up to 10 works (can be substituted with catalogues, booklets, or brochures)
  • - Up to 5 minutes of video work
  • - Captions (title/media/year/size) and brief description for each work
