Geumnamro Gallery

Art Museum Introduction

In an effort to make cultural facilities more accessible for the general public, the Geumnamro Gallery was opened on April 22, 2003 on the 2nd floor of the old Dong-gu District Office building located at 231 Geumnam-ro, Dong-gu, which is in a densely populated area.

The gallery is located close to culture and art development zones like Chungjang-ro, Geumnam-ro, Art Street, Bitgoeul Citizen Cultural Center, and Gwangju Video Art Center as well as the soon to be opened Asia Culture Center. As such, the gallery serves as a hub of art and culture in downtown Gwangju.

Since its opening in 2003, the gallery has been holding about 10 cultural events and planned exhibits annually, enabling visitors to appreciate works by various artists from local to foreign artists. The gallery finds promising young local artists to promote while doing its utmost to provide the public with opportunities to enjoy a wide range of culture and fine arts readily.

Since March 1, 2011, the management of the gallery has been outsourced to the Gwangju Metropolitan Branch of KFAA in order to improve its operation and for better coordination with the local artist community
